Who Will Deliver My Baby?

PDFPrintE-mail

Most likely me.

I do take every other weekend call with another physician who delivers approximately the same number of babies a month as I do.  Our agreement is simple, if we are in town, we deliver are own patients.  If you call the answering service with a question whoever is on call will answer it.

Labor and Delivery Philosophy

I am in solo practice and have two children, ages 3 and 10.  We can only go on vacation when school is out.  In addition, it is very hard to find someone, here in the Dallas area, who shares the same philosophy regarding labor and delivery.  If you see a doctor in a big group, whichever doctor is on call that day will deliver your baby.  Unless of course you agree to induction on your doctor’s day.

I was in a twelve-person group when I first got out of training.  I did not know most of the patients I delivered and I found it very awkward meeting the patient at the time of delivery.  I am sure the laboring patients were just as uneasy about the situation.  I really enjoy getting to know my patients and find it very fulfilling to be at the birth of your child.  This is why I will always limit my delivers to ten per month.
