Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Complete Women’s Healthcare.

Personalized, Compassionate Health Care For Women.

Women want an ob-gyn who is naturally compassionate and sensitive to their needs, takes the time to listen and values a relationship built on honesty, trust and respect. It’s difficult to find this balance of personal qualities in a physician, but that’s just what Jonathan R. Weinstein, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., offers his patients. Located in a new, paperless, state-of-the-art office, connected to Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, Dr. Weinstein’s practice is easily accessed from McKinney, Allen, Plano and surrounding communities so that his patients receive individualized, focused care. More than friendly smiles and an inviting office, Dr. Weinstein and his staff treat patients like family. After an appointment, patients leave feeling well cared for and happy to have found an ob-gyn who not only provides cutting-edge services, but genuinely takes their health and well-being to heart.

OB National Headlines

• C-Section Rate Hits All Time High, despite no improvement in fetal outcomes, but higher maternal complications!

• Give yourself a real chance at a Normal Vaginal Delivery!

OBSTETRICS… THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE.

Remember when an obstetrician actually delivered all of his or her babies and most deliveries were vaginal births versus C-sections? Dr. Weinstein focuses on patient safety and stays up-to-date on the latest advancements in his field. His approach to patient care and the birth of a baby hearkens back to an era where patients always came first. “I do my own deliveries and I’m not one for scheduling unnecessary C-sections,”

Dr. Weinstein explained. “The national C-section average is above 30 percent. In Plano, McKinney and Allen, it can run as high as 50 to 70 percent. My rate is about 20 percent. I take the approach, let nature take its course. I wouldn’t want my wife, Judy, to have an operation she doesn’t really need. I keep this in mind with my OB patients as well.” Dr. Weinstein is one of a few local obstetricians who allows patients to have a vaginal birth after a caesarean (VBAC) when appropriate. “Many women who had a prior C-section would like the opportunity to deliver their next child vaginally,” he explained. “VBACs are appropriate and safe as long as the patient fits the new more relaxed criteria set forth by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in their August 2010 national press release and practice bulletin.”

“The women’s center at Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, where I deliver babies, is a small, family-friendly hospital,” Dr. Weinstein added. “Birth and breast-feeding classes are free. It has a level III nursery, which gives prospective parents peace of mind. Each room is equipped with Internet access and Webcams, so new parents can post pictures of their little ones for family and friends to see. The private birthing and postpartum rooms are comfortable, with oversized chairs and two flat screen televisions. There’s even free food for the patient’s family members. It’s like a little hotel.”

SURGERY…NOT ALWAYS THE FIRST OPTION

Dr. Weinstein offers choices and explains the pros and cons, versus simply scheduling a hysterectomy. “Women have options today, including medical management for bleeding, cramps and pain. Innovative procedures, like endometrial ablations and Adiana permanent sterilization, are performed in-office. These procedures take less than five minutes and patients typically go back to work the next day.”

If a hysterectomy is indicated, the “days of large scars for abdominal surgery” are in the past. Minimally-invasive techniques help women experience better outcomes with shorter recovery times, less scarring and

blood loss, with less out-of-pocket expense. Dr. Weinstein is one of only a handful of surgeons in Collin County who performs robot-assisted, laparoscopic hysterectomies. Using the da Vinci system, he operates using a computer that remotely controls very small instruments attached to a robot.

“With the da Vinci I can remove a uterus the size of a cantaloupe without making large incisions,” he commented. “Most patients return to work in a week.”

FROM FAMILY PLANNING THROUGH MENOPAUSE

Dr. Weinstein’s practice isn’t geared toward high volume. “I spend time with each patient. A well-woman exam isn’t just a quick pap smear and breast exam, and then you’re out. I enjoy talking with patients and they open up. I’m also thorough. We check for vitamin D deficiency, bone loss/weakness, provide vaccinations and address problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression. It’s all about treating the whole person.”

Dr. Weinstein offers several types of birth control. “Implanon goes into the arm,” he said. “There’s no estrogen involved and it’s hasslefree. Today’s IUDs help make periods lighter, and you don’t have to remember to take a pill. NuvaRing is a monthly birth control option that is inserted in the vagina.”

When menopause strikes, women often experience a dramatic change in their quality of life. Dr. Weinstein can help. “Low dose hormone replacement therapy can relieve symptoms, allowing women to regain their sense of well-being.”

What Patients Are Saying About Dr. Weinstein

“Dr. Weinstein is a great doctor! I am 57 years old and Dr. Weinstein was the first doctor ever to spend more than 15 minutes with me discussing my health issues.

My husband and I spent over 30 minutes in his office (not the examining room)

talking about problems and solutions. After a year of hormone related issues, bleeding worse and worse, I was weak, exhausted and frightened about what was wrong with me. Within a few weeks under Dr. Weinstein’s care, my issues were resolved with a few tests, meds and corrective surgery (very pleasant in his clinic). It’s been 6 weeks and I feel like a healthy and strong woman again. I am so pleased! The staff at his office is nice, respectful and caring. I would recommend Dr. Weinstein to any woman seeking a knowledgeable and caring doctor with good solutions to your problems.”

—Aletha Madden

“Early in my pregnancy, I ended up in the ER in downtown Dallas and that’s where I met Dr. Weinstein. When he moved his practice to the Frisco area, I decided to stay with him and make the drive up there for my appointments because I was just so comfortable with him. Dr. Weinstein makes me feel like I am the only patient who matters. He’s very down-to-earth and friendly and you can tell he genuinely cares about his patients.”

—Lisa Mitchell

“I am a 68 year old female who had a hysterectomy with removal of a 10 centimeter mass on my left ovary. Dr. Weinstein removed the mass using the robot. Throughout the surgical process I found him to be very knowledgeable & easy to communicate with. He explains things in detail so that the patient fully understands the procedure that is to be performed. I went home the next morning and stopped my pain pills after 2 days. I have recovered with no complications. He possesses top notch skills and I would HIGHLY recommend him.”
