Baby’s Sleep Cycle

As your pregnancy progresses there is less room for your baby to stretch out. It is not the strength of the kick or punch; it is the number of times the baby moves that counts.  Babies have sleep cycles, often every 2 hours.  When you are busy with work you will not likely pay attention to the baby as often.

How To Feel Your Baby Move

If in doubt about your baby’s well-being, lie down on your left side in a dark room, drink some juice, and concentrate on your baby, it should start to move in an hour or two.  If it does not, coming to labor and delivery or the office is an excellent way to relieve anxiety, by letting us monitor the baby for a reassuring fetal heart rate.

Fetal kick counts are not usually started until after 24 weeks.  They are not needed if your baby is moving as expected.  Your baby can never move too often.
